Overview:

Engagement with trainees in the health professions has always been a challenge, and the pressures of the pandemic have only compounded this further. Digital content creation can be an exciting way in which both learners and educators can engage with one another while creating and sharing educational materials across a wide variety of technological platforms. Additionally, these types of technology can be an avenue towards professional identity formation, especially in earlier stages of training in health professions education. This webinar will focus on defining two of the more commonly used content creation methods, namely podcasting and live streaming, while also exploring the frequently encountered barriers to implementation. Finally, this webinar will serve as an opportunity to draw from the experience of our participants in a short interactive activity aimed at increasing comfort levels with the use of these technologies in their field of work.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the webinar, the participants will be able to

  • Define podcasting and livestreaming in health professions education
  • Describe relevant learning theories that support the use of digital content creation in health professions education
  • Describe common barriers of implementation for digital content creation in health professions education
  • Develop increased comfort in the use of digital content creation in health professions education
