Biographie:

Pierre Désaulniers is a specialist in emergency medicine at CHUM in Montreal and completed his third and final term as residency program director a few months ago. He is the pedagogical leader at the Centre de Pédagogie Appliquée aux Sciences de la Santé (CPASS) and the head of the safety of care and of the Faculty’s residents committee.

Summary:

During this webinar, we will, using a few examples, describe the impacts of common and lesser-known cognitive biases. We will also discuss ways to reduce their impact in daily practice and the importance of including cognitive biases in teaching.

Objectives:

At the end of this webinar, the participant will be able to:

  1. Define what cognitive bias is in clinical medicine
  2. Identify common and lesser-known biases
  3. Use methods to partially prevent cognitive biases
  4. Understand the importance of including cognitive biases in our daily teaching and describe some ways to do so
